The wide-spread community of Rohrmoos-Untertal reaches from the alpine region of the Tauern mountains to the town boundaries of Schladming and is situated directly above Schladming.
Even now you are likely to encounter reminders of the great mining tradition in the countryside around Rohrmos and Schladming. Silver, colbalt and nickel were won. Many legends are told about a colourful past. You feel as if you are experiencing an exciting adventure film when you take part in one of the guided adventure hikes to the places were minerals were mined and explore the galleries that have been opened up or see the old smelting oven for nickel. In the light of the carbide lamps you feel like one of the central characters.
Meanwhile Rohrmoos-Untertal with its 3,500 beds has become an important holiday destination. The hotels, guesthouses, farms and apartments are scattered on the Rohrmoos Plateau, in the Obertal and Untertal valleys and on the Fastenberg/Planai. There is a unique view from here of the magnificent Dachstein Massif.

Rohrmoos Kids’ Club has a colourful program, the fairy trail and above all the destinations for excursions that are particularly kid-orientated, guarantee happy holidays for young families. All youngsters and the young at heart, sports enthusiasts and adventure-lovers will of course enjoy themselves particularly in Rohrmoos-Untertal. Enjoy the feeling of freedom while paragliding into the air, ‘ascending’ into mountain regions with a climbing guide, rope and hooks or being kitted out in special equipment for ‘canyoning’ and pursuing the route of the canyon.
All keen swimmers will hardly be able to resist the up-to-the-minute trend of rafting and during mountain biking, some of the bikers will celebrate their victory at the summit. On a gentle, romantic walk in Rohrmoos-Untertal you can really let your mind wander.
