Let's go

Dream day in the mountains - The "Hochwurzen High Trail" tour

With the gondola to the Hochwurzen

Start in Rohrmoos near Schladming.
With the Hochwurzen summit lift, you can comfortably ride up to the Hochwurzen Hut and start the hike directly from there.

From the Hochwurzen over the Rossfeld to the Guschen
The first destination is the Rossfeld. The elongated mountain ridge already offers a beautiful panorama and is perfect for a short break.
Afterwards, the high trail continues towards the Guschen. Here awaits the first summit cross and a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.
From now on, the Hochwurzen High Trail shows its alpine character. The path leads in constant ups and downs through the Schladminger Tauern.

Our highlight: the Brettersee
One of our favorite spots along the hike is the Brettersee.
The small mountain lake is beautifully nestled in the alpine landscape and is a perfect spot for a break. On warm summer days, especially the brave can dip their feet into the icy mountain water here.
Afterwards, the hike continues towards the Giglachseen Lakes.

Giglach Lakes and Ignaz-Mattis Hut
After the last section, the view finally opens up to the Giglachseen Lakes.
There is also the Ignaz-Mattis Hut, which invites you to take a break.

From the Giglachseen Lakes to the Ursprungalm
After the break, the hike continues over the Preuneggsattel towards the Ursprungalm.
For this section, you should plan about another hour. The path is significantly more comfortable than the alpine high trail and forms a beautiful conclusion to the tour.

From the Ursprungalm, the hiking bus will take you back towards Rohrmoos and Schladming.
