With dog to the Gasselhöhe & to the Spiegelsee
Our favorite after-work round.
Goosebumps moments guaranteed.
Our Kacey in hiking paradise.
We love our mountains – and we love experiencing them together with our dogs. One of our absolute favorite routes leads to the Gasselhöhe and the Spiegelsee. Why? Because it is uncomplicated, offers dreamy views, and is simply perfect when you want to quickly get out after work or on the weekend – with two- and four-legged friends - ATTENTION: Leash required!
📍 Starting point:
Mountain station of the Preunegg Jet cable car (with the summer card, you have the gondola as well as the toll for arriving by car included for free - only for your four-legged friend do you need a separate ticket).
🕒 Duration:
To the summit Gasselhöhe about 1 hour - for the entire round trip with Rippeteck and Spiegelsee about 3.5h.
🥾 Route:
Total round about 7 km and around 510 meters of elevation.
Freedom on four paws – nature moments that stay.
Already with the first step, you feel the fresh mountain air, hear the rushing streams, and see the alpine meadows in lush green. For furry friends, it is a small paradise – new smells, movement, and adventures on four paws. For us humans, it means pure freedom and the good feeling of being in the here and now.
The paths are well developed, easy to walk, and thus ideal for a dog hike on the Reiteralm. With a leash and a little consideration, the tour is relaxed, and if cows are on the path, there are always alternatives. At the top of the Gasselhöhe Schladming, a 360° panorama from the Dachstein to the Schladminger Tauern awaits – a view that impresses every time.
Just a few steps further lies the famous Spiegelsee, one of the most beautiful spots in the region. On calm days, the Dachstein massif reflects crystal clear in the water – a postcard motif that becomes perfect with your furry friend in the foreground. Depending on your mood, you can keep the round short or extend it over the Rippeteck. And those who start the tour at sunset will experience the mountains in pink, gold, and violet before heading back with headlamp and four-legged friend under the stars.
